Mandy Taheri is a Newsweek reporter covering politics, international affairs, breaking news, and climate. As a freelance journalist she writes about arts and culture, often related to the Middle East and North Africa, with a specific focus on Iran and the Iranian American diaspora.

In May 2023, she graduated from NYU’s joint master’s program in Global Journalism and Near Eastern Studies. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Ethnicity, Race, and Migration at Yale University in 2019.

She has lived in Michigan, Vermont, Connecticut, Washington D.C., and New York City. She is proficient in French and is learning Persian.
